Founded as a

Direct-to-Consumer Brand

Our Journey So Far

"Bunon Batte was founded as a Direct-to-Consumer fashion brand — and our Back to School collection changed everything."

Our Back to School collection celebrated school life by taking inspiration from uniforms, notebooks, and the textures of the Indian classroom. Bold gingham shirts, patchwork skirts, peter-pan collars — garments that made people remember school with joy.

That collection made us ask the harder question: if we could make school-inspired clothing that adults wanted to wear — what could we do for the uniforms students have to wear, every single day?

That question became Bunon Batte Uniforms. A designer-led, bespoke uniform brand built by brand strategists, fashion designers, and UX thinkers who believe institutional identity starts with what you wear — not what you print on a brochure.

Research Data

Why Settle for
Just a Dress Code?

We spoke to schools, parents, and students across India. What they told us shaped everything we do.

91
Students
91%

Report feeling active physical discomfort throughout the school day — in a uniform they wear for 8 hours straight.

85
Parents
85%

Are unhappy with uniform quality and longevity — and explicitly state they want better functional designs for their children.

78
Schools
78%

Recognise that off-the-shelf uniforms dilute their brand, failing to reflect the premium value, unique history, or cultural aspirations of the institution.

Designed for the Way Students Actually Live

Four pillars.
One bespoke system.

Each pillar is a promise we make — to the school, to the student, and to the craft."

School Identity

Powerful brand recall through unique bespoke design

Very few uniforms actually tell the school's story: origin, values, ethos, and philosophy. We create a wearable identity that carries your school's legacy out into the world — worn by hundreds of students, 200 days a year. Brand recall you never have to advertise.

Your School's Story Identity

Aesthetics & Wearability

Clean silhouettes. Considered cuts. Built for real life.

Uniforms have always chosen form over function. Conformity over aesthetics. We refuse that trade-off. Designed for the way students actually live — including pleated skirts with built-in shorts, because dignity shouldn't be an afterthought.

Aesthetics & Function "The same brief."
Comfortable & Sustainable Fabrics

Fabric first. Not last.

Schools spend months choosing a uniform's colour. Minutes choosing its fabric. The fabric a child wears for 8 hours a day deserves more than an afterthought. Certified Recycled Polyester-Cotton Blends, Pure Linen, and Pure Cotton — balancing comfort, longevity, affordability, and maintainability.

Student's Pride

When students feel proud of what they wear, they feel proud of where they are.

The right uniform turns a dress code into a sense of belonging — and belonging is where learning begins. Identity is foundational to outcomes, participation, and mental wellbeing. Balance comfort with longevity and affordability, and you give students something worth wearing.

Belonging "Where learning begins."

Case Study

The Power of a
Tailored Identity

When a uniform is designed with intention, it becomes the most powerful brand asset an institution has. IndiGo Airlines proved it. We bring the same lens to schools.

IndiGo Airlines ✈

Designed by Rajesh Pratap Singh, IndiGo's cobalt-blue crew uniforms are India's most recognisable corporate dress code. The tailored silhouette, playful 6E embroidery, and consistent visual language across aircraft, gates, and merchandise all work together seamlessly.

Result

IndiGo holds ~60% domestic market share and is India's most trusted airline brand. Passengers identify staff instantly — even outside the aircraft.

Institutional Trust
A thoughtful uniform signals that your school takes its identity and students' experience seriously.
Brand Recall
Visual consistency across every touchpoint builds equity that advertising alone cannot buy.
Legacy by Design
The right uniform outlives generations — alumni carry it as part of their identity long after graduation.

Lesson for schools: The most visible thing about your school walks out your gates every afternoon. Your uniform is an untapped opportunity to make every student feel they belong to something worth belonging to.

In-depth Interviews & Renders

Our team interviews your founders, educators, and staff for a deep understanding of your values, ethos, and philosophies. Our designers then create initial renders for your approval.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you
need to know.

The questions every school administrator asks before we begin. We believe in transparency at every step.

Is bespoke design more expensive than buying off-the-shelf?
Not as much as you might think. Our bespoke process is designed to be cost-competitive with premium off-the-shelf suppliers — and because our fabrics are chosen for longevity, parents typically replace uniforms far less frequently. The total cost of ownership over 3 years is often lower than cheaper alternatives that pill, fade, or tear after a single academic year.
What fabrics do you use, and are they suitable for Indian weather?
Every fabric we use is specifically chosen for India's climate and school context. Our options include Certified Recycled Polyester-Cotton Blends (durable, breathable, easy-wash), Pure Linen-Cotton Blends (naturally cooling, excellent for warmer climates), and Pure Cotton (soft, skin-safe, ideal for younger students). We never use low-grade synthetics that trap heat — the reason 91% of students currently report physical discomfort.
Why is the mandatory Trial Wear period so important?
No design lives in a photostudio — it lives on a child running across a playground at 38°C. Our one-month trial wear stage is non-negotiable because it's the only way to validate comfort, fit, and fabric in real school conditions. Students wear samples, give structured feedback, and we refine before a single bulk unit is produced. This protects your school's investment and ensures students actually want to wear the final uniform.
How long does the entire process take from brief to delivery?
The full process — from initial interviews through to bulk delivery — typically takes between 6 and 12 months depending on order size and complexity. This is why we recommend starting at least one academic year in advance of your planned launch. We are transparent about timelines at every stage and provide a detailed project timeline before any work begins.
Can you design a complete uniform system — not just one garment?
Yes — and this is where our design approach truly differentiates itself. We create a full uniform system: formal day wear, PT/sports wear, ceremonial or event wear, and house colours — all cohesive, all rooted in your school's identity. Every item tells the same story. This is the difference between a dress code and a brand identity.
Do you work with both private and government schools?
We currently focus on private and independent schools where design investment is aligned with institutional ambition. Our pricing and process are structured to be accessible to schools investing in their identity seriously. If you're unsure whether we're the right fit, we offer a free 30-minute discovery conversation before any commitment is made.
